Youth ministry is all our efforts in making church real for younger people. Our aim is to provide a way for young people to experience God and learn to grow in faith with a relationship with Jesus and the community He established.
As life gets busier and busier it is important to take time out to relax and have fun. Many activities/events that have been planned recently for youth have centred around games, food and pausing to thank God for the blessings we have. These have been a heap of fun, but we’d love to have more people join us!
If you’d like more information about getting involved with the youth ministry at St Mark’s parish please contact Joanne van Heerden – she’d love to hear from you! Ph 021 114-3374 or 535-9583 or email email@example.com
St Mark’s has designated the 6.30 Sunday evening mass a youth mass (except the last Sunday of each month). A dedicated group of young musicians meet from 5pm on the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month to practice and then lead music at mass. Others are welcome to join us, as long as you come to that practice! The CFC Youth for Christ group leads the music on the 2nd Sunday of the month. We always encourage youth to attend the Diocesan Youth Mass at St Patricks Cathedral on the last Sunday of each month.
World Youth Day was one of the biggest events to come to the Southern Hemisphere! A week long series of events for young Catholics finishing with Mass with Pope Benedict XVI, held in Sydney Australia gave us the opportunity to take a group of 32 young people from St Mark’s and St Luke’s parishes. They were part of a group of around 4000 kiwis taking part in this pilgrimage.
And this we’re looking to give a Taste of World Youth Day to those who can’t be part of the pilgrimage to Madrid. Keep the weekend of the 19 – 21 August free!!!
